Thought We Were Buying A Quality Product !
We purchased this fridge freezer when we moved into a new house in August 2009, we paid extra so that we could have an AEG appliance!
The first break down occurred in January 2011, we lost the contents of the freezer and had to wait a week before a new defrost heater was fitted (£125.75).
In August 2012 another fault and more food spoiled, a new evaporator unit was required, the initial quote was for £250.15 we negotiated this figure down to £85.
Another 18months on and another problem!
We have decided to call it a day for our AEG Fridge Freezer, we have lost all confidence in the appliance and we are not prepared to pay for further repairs.
We have now purchased another appliance - NOT AEG - with 5 year break down cover.

Had 2 Of These In 2 Years, Both Have Had The Same Fault
Not a bad Fridge Freezer when it's working OK, but I have 2 of these in the space of 2 years and both have had the same problem. The Manufacturer eventually replaced the 1st unit after 14 months but now the 2nd one has the same fault. But now it's out of guarantee and the manufacturer is not interested.
What happens is the fridge stops getting cold whilst the freezer continues to work OK.
I would not recommend this model or this manufacturer as the aftercare service was extremely poor.
I've just ordered a samsung with a 5 year parts and labour warranty, so I'll see how that works out.
