Terrible customer service......

As so many in this thread have highlighted we wanted a refund from Visum for services not provided.

They said that they needed personal documents such as proof of ownership, passport etc as it was Money Laundering Regulations, we didn't want to provide these to a company we didn't know much about. (our fault) so wanted a refund.

They said we couldn't have our money back until we had provided the documentation. As you will see in their replies in a number of these threads, the keep stating that they have to for the Money Laundering Regulations 2007: supervision of Estate Agency Businesses.

This is not the case, it is a ruse to get your money. It says in the regulation that they need to take id on a risk based approach but they will not get fined if they dont take it as they would have you believe. I have spoken to a few agents on this who have laughed at this idea. Anyway it is lodged with the Ombudsman as it is in a stalemate.

I also have to say the emails and customer service we received was rude, obnoxious and to be honest totally unprofessional.

As a property owner and landlord I am extremely happy that they insist on proof of ownership before adding a property to rent. This helps to stop the scourge of sub letting and fraudulent selling of property. Anyone who had suffered these problems would welcome such action by all agents!
