Worst Housing Association Ever!
Signed a tenancy at the start of 2017, and from start to finish it was a disaster! Where to begin?
We experienced a lot of noise nuisance from the upstairs neighbour. It was a block of flats and we couldn't access upstairs, so we weren't sure which neighbour to report. Midland Heart were just as unhelpful in the matter, and didn't give us the door number of the neighbours upstairs. I don't think answering the question "Who lives directly above me?" is difficult, but it seemed to be for Midland Heart. The wrong neighbour ended up getting into trouble and almost lost their tenancy, and they had the nerve to have a go at me about it. Yes, someone at the office actually shouted at me down the phone. Even though we were the ones experiencing problems.
There were various issues with the flat including the wiring, radiators, boiler and kitchen ceiling. I reported five repairs within the first year because everything kept breaking down. During our second year at the property the boiler broke completely and nobody came to fix it. Yes, we were a family of four living with no hot water for year!
We had a few disputes with the downstairs neighbour not long after they moved in. They would knock our door repeatedly and at one point threatened us. I reported this to Midland Heart and absolutely nothing was done about it, even though the police were involved.
Because of all this I developed anxiety. It was difficult for me to leave the house or take the children anywhere. I asked Midland Heart to move me out of area, or at least a mutual exchange. They said I couldn't transfer because I was only on a starter tenancy. Starter tenancy? I'd been there for almost three years and they hadn't bothered to renew my tenancy agreement! But they were happy to continue receiving money.
I had to go into temporary accommodation to get away from the harassment and help cure my anxiety. As a single mum of three it wasn't easy. Luckily we had a good support worker and were rehoused by someone else.
Never ever sign a tenancy with Midland Heart! They don't care about their tenants and only want money.
