I Am A Strings Teacher, And I Am Always Looking Fo
I am a strings teacher, and I am always looking for a good deal for my students. The Victory (National Music Supply) VP750-44 violin is much more than I expected. I got it from National Music Supply for $98 (includes violin, case, bow, and KUN-style shoulder rest). It is for my 11 year old daughter, who is a beginner. The finish is laminated, but it has a distinct grain and slight flaming on the back. I replaced the strings after one month with D'Addario Pro Arte strings (my favorite), and that was a big improvement. The bridge snapped shortly after installing the new strings, and I had it replaced with a Glaesel bridge for $50. I am very satisfied with the sound of the violin. With the new strings it is responsive and dynamically versatile. I know my daughter will eventually need a nicer violin, but I will wait until she grows into a 4/4. It's been nice to have a decent instrument at such a reasonable price. If I had rented, I would have spent more than $300 in one year. This violin is paid for, and it's as good as, or better than the rentals I've seen.
