this is a nice horn for an experienced high school player. It is sometimes advertised as an intermediate horn. Having a small shank mc I have found that you need to be careful in ff passages as it does not open up, or project very well. As well it generally plays on the sharp side.
Other than that it blow easily and can produce some nice sound. Keep on top of valve maintenance with this horn

The Yamaha 201 3 Valve is a nice instrument for a learner, it has a good case and mouthpiece but I would suggest using a trombone mouthpiece to compensate for small bore.
Can soung raspy and very much like a Baritone, no depth of sound.
