I Bought The Pearl Chad Smith Signature Shell Pack

I bought the Pearl Chad Smith Signature shell pack minus snare drum(Sizes 12x9, 14x14, 16x16, and 22x18 ) and i have to say, this is the best kit for the money. Usually I play a custom DW kit, but i would never take it to a beach gig. I bought this as thinking it would be a good kit just to gig with and not worry. I was suprised that these drum were easy to tune. My only complaint is that i've never been a fan of pearls stock heads and sound questionable at best. Throw some Evans EC2 head on there and they sound awesome. The bass drum requires zero muffling, however, I suggest a REMO powerstroke 3 for the reso and a powerstroke 4 for the batter tune it up and let the shell take care of the low pitch. These drums have beautiful resonance and can be tuned up or down to fit almost and style. I usually have it tuned for rock and funk gigs. Remeber though, I already owned the snare drum, for $400 you get three toms and a bass drum.
