I Have 20+ Years Drumming, Played All Sorts Of Kit
I have 20+ years drumming, played all sorts of kits, top of the line to complete junk. This kit straight out of the box surprised me to no end. No problems tuning or holding tune. The styles/settings this kit can play well, is unbelievable. Price is undervalued.Con,reggae tone just not there

Value For Money This Is A Great Little Kit 18 Inc
Value for money this is a great little kit 18 inch bass drum sounds great with both heads and no damping.Snare is what you would expect from a budget kit and personally i only use it at home.I use this kit for small pub gigs where space is ltd as i have a a late 80,s granstar kit but i enjoy the gretsch kit so much i am starting to use it more and more.I would have liked the option of no snare when i purchased the kit but hey you can never have too many snares

Bought The Gretsch Catalina Club Mod With G-tube F
Bought the Gretsch Catalina Club Mod with G-tube finish and I couldn't be happier. Got it on ebay for round $550 USD, which is a steal. It's a 4 piece, 22" bass drum 20" long which is THUNDEROUS, everyone comments on it. Toms are 12" and 16" up and down, which I upgraded to evans G2 coated batter heads and evans Hydraulic clear bottom heads. The toms sound thunderous and low like the kick, so fills sound very quick and great for death metal. Snare is 14" x I think 6 1/2".. OTHER REVIEWS Say this snare is lame but if you slam an evans EC2 Reverse Dot snare batter head on there, it sounds like a punch in the face. I find it like Cradle of Filth like, with less ring on the toms cuz of the hydraulics. EQ3 Coated batter on the kick, 1 T-shirt inside. Hole cut-out using tin can 4". Did not use tape or muffle anything! This kit gets an A+ from me. P.S. I play New Metal/Death Metal and Jazz. Had this kit for a year. Love it!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gretsch Catalina Club Are Light And Thus Easy To C
Gretsch Catalina Club are light and thus easy to carry. The sizes of the 4-piece Gretsch Catalina Club Jazz set are perfect for bee bop and small group jazz. The 18" bass drum sounds really good with almost no ring. The 14" by 14" floor tom also sounds pretty good.
The tuning bolts are of poor quality and some are difficult to turn, especially on the snare drum. The snare drum has only 8 tuning lugs, whereas 10 is standard for better quality drums. It is nearly impossible to get a good sound out of the snare drum. The chrome has a cheap look to it. Overall, the quality looks and feels cheap. The shell tom mount holds the drum loosely by 2 tuning bolts.
This kit has 30 degree bearing edges on the shells, which gives a good jazz sound with less ring and overtones than kits with 45 degree edges. The heads are all coated. The drums sound punchy or thud-like. They don't sound very loud. They would be good for a piano, bass and drums trio or other small combo playing acoustic music.
