I just received my new 4003W Ric bass and it is a beauty. I have several basses mostly Fender P's, a Fender Victor Bailey acoustic bass, a Sting Pbass with a telecaster maple neck, and a Hofner Beatle bass. I love them all and I have always wanted a Ric but never had enough cash for one. I now am the proud owner of a new walnut 4003W, and I love it. I do admit that getting used to the crisp growl sound is hard on someone who was used to Pbasses, but the versatility in the sounds this Ric can produce was worth the money and the wait. The sustain is fantastic, although hard to get used to at first. I play it through a GK 750w amp with twin 10's bottom and it rocks. If you can come up with the cash it is a very worthwhile investment. I think I found my new #1 bass for gigging. I have yet to try recording , but will let you know when I do.

Rickenbacker has to be one of the most beautiful guitars I've ever seen (and I've seen quite a few). The quality of the construction is staggering. The sound is everything you would expect from a Ricky, enough bottom to make your trousers flat and so much top!!!! Mine is one of the new lot with full width fret markings and vintage tone selector, this gives a real pallette of sounds. The action, straight out of the box, was very good. A little tweak of the truss rods (double on this model) and the action was brilliant, quick and responsive. Rickenbackers are expensive and difficult to find but well worth the wait and every penny of the money.

After years of wanting, I managed to get a Rickenbacker 4003. This is the most beautiful guitar I've ever seen (and I've seen quite a few). The build quality is fantastic. The sound is exactly waht you would expect from A Ricky, tons of bottom end and enough searing top to take your head off. Mine has the 'vintage tone' control which means it has extra versitility. It can switch from a modern 4003 to a 70's 4001 by engaging the extra tone capacitor in the bridge pickup. Straight out of the box the set up was very good. A bit of tweaking with the dual truss rods and the action is now brilliant, responsive and very fast. Rickenbackers are notoriously hard to find and a bit on the expensive side, but I think it's worth the effort and the expense.I think I'm in love..........

The Rickenbacker 4003 has Style, Quality, Sound & reliability 10/10

No problems at all with the guitar after five years of ownership, which included a complete dunking in a swimming pool while attached to a live amp! Rock and Roll lifestyle, I think.
