I Had Never Heard Of The Noisettes Before The Rele

I had never heard of the Noisettes before the release of single 'Don't Upset The Rhythm' which had so much airplay you couldn't help but get hooked on the catchy chorus. So I therefore decided to take a punt and download the Noisettes album 'Wild Young Hearts' and before doing so I noticed they have been on the scene for a couple of years now so this was infact not their first release. I can now say that this is without doubt my favourite album of the year so far and is perfect for the summer and singing along with in the car.

You get a complete mixture on 'Wild Young Hearts' which in my opinion makes this one of the most ambitious records this year - it's as if the Noisetes are trying to prove they don't just fit one genre and I have to say I think they pull it off with ease. The lead singers voice reminds me of all manner of other singers - part Billie Holiday part Corrine Bailey Rae at times like on the opening track 'Sometimes' which sort of lulls you into a false sense that the album is going to be of the easy listening variety before it then launches into the mainstream pop of 'Don't Upset the Rhythm' This is so catchy that you can't help but start to sing along. Shoniwa's voice is not the strongest but what she does have is used to very great effect. The track '24 Hours' is brilliant and is a throwback to the vintage 50's and 60's as is 'Never Forget You' which also sounds like it could have been sung by Amy Winehouse. Amongst these tracks are others such as 'Saturday Night' and 'Beat of My Heart' which have an electro synth sound with added guitar bite which just make you want to get up and party.

So to summarise, I would say an eclectic mix of tunes and that wonderful husky style voice make this album one of the must haves this year. I think its great.
