I Downloaded This Album From E-music, Where I Did
I downloaded this album from e-music, where I did a trial period. I heard only 1 other song by Stavesacre (which is 'Bull takes Fighter' - free download on their myspace) before but thought I'd give it a try after a fellow listener recommended this album as one of the finest Stavesacre albums.
The heavy guitars don't shut up for the first 4 songs and it's great! Rather than the vocals being lost they actually have a very melodic and clear presence and the first 4 songs just make me come back time and again to this album. After that the album -in my opinion- loses that great tone and momentum set at the start. That is not to say the other 7 tracks are bad, they're not in themself, but they just aren't as excellent as the first 4 and especially 'Blind Hope' and 'Alice Wishlist' (great songs that just make you want to shout out the chorus yourself).
Lyrically the album is good too. No simple answers and confronting humanity's common values of desperation, loss and tragedy very well without being depressing and leaving you down.
