Jeff Lynne Was The Brains Behind Elo, The Prog Roc
Jeff Lynne was the brains behind ELO, the prog rock band that saw fame in the 1970s and 1980s. Whilst ELO disbanded in 1986 after 15 years together, Jeff carried on producing Tom Petty and George Harrison to name but two. Additionally he was part of the Travelling Wilburys as well as releasing a solo album. This is it. The music is as strong as anything he did with ELO although the sound is different. No cellos, no overproduction, no vocoders. He even covers two songs - September Song and Stormy Weather! ELO keyboard player Richard Tandy (and his wife) feature along with various Indian musicians on Now You're Gone. Best track for me is Blown Away - a gorgeous, hairs standing up on neck ballad that betters any ELO song for me. Buy this album - I guarantee you will not be disappointed if you liked ELO.
