This Dashboard Confessional Album Was My First Of
This Dashboard Confessional album was my first of the group after being advised on them by a friend. Chris Carrabba is the main main of the 'group', with three other guys on drums, bass and guitar playing a slightly less prominent roll. Chris Carrabba has been around since 1999.
His voice is the strong factor on the album, but it doesn't take away the good and steady instrumental parts that accompany him. 'Of Dusk and Summer' is a varied album with rocky overtones, but not failing a few ballads. Track 1 'Don't Wait' could remind you of 'Sixpence None The Richer' hit 'Kiss Me', but soon takes a different, if not better, direction. The second track 'Reason to Believe' kicks in a bit harder and again emphasises the great vocal strength Dashboard Confessional holds.
Power chords, sing-along choruses and great vocals are they key words on this album.
'The Secret's in the Telling' keeps on rocking , 'Stolen' is a great ballad, and the acoustic guitar on 'Rooftops and Invitations' is also a good variation. 'So Long, So Long' which is a duet with Counting Crowns' Adam Duritz once again shows of that this is a great album with lots of potential and it definitely holds the strength to be played many of times!
The final three songs are no less good, and I love the intro to 'Slow Decay' ... another great example of how varied this album is.
So, to keep things short and just make a recommendation: buy this album .... it's good, it's rocky, it has the odd ballad and is just quality!
