Lovers Is The Second Single From The Album Here Co
Lovers is the second single from the album Here Come the Tears and it's a glorious, foot-stomping anthem about bi-racial relationships. Using lavish, hyperbolic and over-the-top production, the song presents a pastiche on '60's throwaway pop songs with great guitar hooks and a suitably daft chorus tempered a bit by great lyrical verses describing "the flippancy of youth" and "the capital connecting with her bones." It's a glorious summer anthem designed for dancing at festivals and singing along.
The 3-part single also comes with 3 original b-sides including another touching Anderson/Butler ballad about an unsuitable relationship, and a couple of more political tracks lamenting the vapid nature of modern society and Britain's treatment of migrants and immigrants.
Overall, it's a great single package which showcases the Tears' love of pop drama, their sense of humour and the outward-looking and political nature of their songwriting. All this and a fantastic, limited edition, neon green 7" too! What's not to love!
