I Read A Review That The Robbie Williams Advertisi
I read a review that the Robbie Williams Advertising Space song was about Elvis. Could someone tell me why? A friend of mine and I think the allegory is directed more at Marilyn Monroe. Even though the reference is to later events and President Kennedy. The words seem to refer to working for the man who kept Watergate and Vietnam well hidden, but it suggests any president of the USA.
I could be wrong. If so. could somebody tell me.
The song is about Elvis.
The first verse refers to his heart attack and the effect it had on the world.
The second verse is a dig at the 'Memphis Mafia' - his close circle of supposed friends, who many feel let him down and who sold out after Elvis's death, and contributed to tacky books, bringing him down.
The 'special agent for the man' refers to Elvis being an agent for the federal drugs and narcotics bureau - he was awarded the badge by Nixon.
The last line is of course about Lisa Marie, who is the absolute image of her father.
Robbie Williams adores Elvis.
