Tissues & Issues This Is My Own Personal Review

TISSUES & ISSUES

This is my own personal review of the album and it comes straight from the heart and not from the head like most reviews from most magazines.

Call My Name

Very catchy opening tune. I can see this one becoming a real concert stomper with the audience singing along.

Crazy Chick

The perfect choice for the first single. This has burst onto the scene and given Charlotte a whole new audience. The Teens love it and so do the oldies like me.

Moodswings (To Come At Me Like That)

Starts out like a Natasha Bedingfield number and then gives The Corrs a run for their money.

Show A Little Faith

Lovely vocal from Charlotte and beautiful backing vocals from Corinne Bailey Rae. I bet All Saints wished they had this one.

Finding My Own Way

Co-written with Marcella Detroit (famous for her backing vocals on Clapton's 'Lay Down Sally'. Beautifully crafted. I can see all the lighters flames in the audience as they sway to the rhythm.

Let's Be Alone

Another very catchy number. I can't help thinking of Sam Fox's 'Nothings Gonna Stop Me Now' at the chorus. Brilliant, hypnotic and enchanting backing vocal from Charlotte.

Easy To Forget

Lovely and melodic with a truly haunting Spanish guitar.

Fool No More

This is a powerful little number. I can't help thinking of Sam Brown and 'Stop'.

Easy Way Out

Given that Gary Barlow had a hand in this track; it might have been an idea to turn this into a duet with him. Super song regardless.

Casualty of Love

I can just picture Charlotte doing this one in a flamenco dress with castanets held high. This track would not have been out of place on my favourite pre-Tissues album, 'Enchantment'. Watch out J-Lo.

Even God

Times have changed. EMI told Kate Bush not to include 'God' in her song title for 'Running Up That Hill'. Dodgy ground when you reference God being unable to change things.

Boy George, who helped pen this one, would give it some excellent novelty value if he were to sing with Charlotte here.

Confessional Song

My personal favourite on the whole album. Sounds very much like a track by Saint Etienne. I keep playing this over and over again. I love it!

And this 5 minute gem is worth the album price on its own.

Tissues & Issues will be a permanent fixture on my CD player for many months to come. This is Charlotte's debut 'pop' album and given its perfection there is little room for improvement. Bring on the promotional tours and prepare yourselves for the hottest new property on the pop/rock scene. Charlotte Church has landed. She still has her wings but right now she is flying high without them.
