Scintillating New Solo Album From The Heart Of Thi
SCINTILLATING new solo album from The Heart Of Things bassist Matthew Garrison. Strong influences can be heard from John McLaughlin (I had to check the liner notes at one point!) and Joe Zawinul, as the album bubbles along the Heart Of Things and Weather Report highway of electric jazzrock. Brilliant performances from David Gilmore [gt], Adam Rodgers [gt] and Arto Tuncboyacian [perc] gel the mix so that Matt doesn't stand out on his own. (It can be lonely in virtuoso land). A detour into more exotic territory is never far around the corner; Eastern rhythms flavoured with the haunting vocals of Amit Chaterjee help to make this an eclectic voyage beyond where the fusion forefathers left off.
