Empire Opens Explosively With The Title Track That
Empire opens explosively with the title track that sticks in your mind. In this album, Kasabian stick to their excellent formula shown in their debut album, packed full of synths and good melodies. Last Trip (In Flight) shows yet another good melody and Me Plus One contains a combination of acoustic guitar and synths that make this song catchy. Apnoea is diffferent in a good way because of the racing drums and minor synths. By My Side has anthem potential with echoey vocals and interesting lyrics. British Legion by far stands out on the album as it has piano and acoustic guitar and no synths. With its haunting melody and lyrics that remind me of Arctic Monkeys, it is heartfelt and beautiful at times.
With the first listen, the songs don't neccessarily strike you as being good songs yet after more plays, their potential is unleashed.
This is exactly what I wanted from the new Kasabian album which had so much hype surrounding it, yet the old album is very slightly better, but it's a tough call.
