I Was Introduced To Fleet Foxes By One Of My Best
I was introduced to Fleet Foxes by one of my best friends. At the time he was lying on the floor of our rented chalet in Sweden, eyes closed, headphones on after a hard days snowboarding listening to Fleet Foxes to chill out (with the aid of a couple of beers!). He extolled their virtues to me and I duly had a listen back in the UK.
He described it as 'hippy music' which immediately put me off! It is acoustic US folk music with a pop edge - not something I would normally consider buying and it took a few listens on Spotify before I took the plunge and bought the album on iTunes.
Fleet Foxes has been on constant rotation on my iPhone ever since and has now been joined by Bon Iver (a Swedish folk-light outfit) and old favourite The Thrills in their own Hippy Music playlist! Yes it is folky, with jingley guitars and harmonised vocals - but it sounds fresh compared to some of the rubbish in the charts at the moment.
If you're open minded about your music preferences and would like something calming to listen to when stuck in the hustle and bustle of the commute to work or just to relax at home then give the Fleet Foxesa try.

This Fleet Foxes, album is an absolute classic (if you like that 70s west coast sound that is, think Eagles, America, Seals & Croft). Every track is strong in its own right. The album has more of an early 70s feel than some of the albums that were made in the early 70s.
