Remember The Name Sykeone, Primarily: Iflow, Spina
Remember the name SYKEONE, primarily: Iflow, Spinarchy, K-Lee, Kaishek Vang, N3ry, Mo'reno, Shane Doumain, 45th and MSE. Right now they are not known outside of the Middle East, but this reviewer GUARANTEES that you will feel the ripples across the pond over the next few months. I went to watch these guys support RZA on his Middle East Tour and picked up their underground mixtape, 'Sykeone Sessions Volume one' a sixteen track strong album that bursts international flavour. With shout outs from RZA, Domino and various other hip-hop heavyweights, the album is very under-valued, which most rappers would boast to the hills. The Sykeone outfit is the only urban music cartel that boast different religions, creed and political views and works!
Tracks like 'Affrikkan Ambition' touches on the changes and life in South Africa, 'Street Politics' a track which mixes Latin lyrics with dirty south rap (a must listen). This album has the beautiful blend of heart felt hip-hop anthems, beautifully constructed ballads from a sensational Kaishek Vang and hip-hop anthems with Arabic beats.
I did not want to bore people with a track by track review of this album, but independent music is starting to worry major labels, and with albums such as this, you can understand the claims!
There is something for everyone. It has R'n'B tracks, Hip-Hop, Lyric styles, Deep South crunkers, something for all tastes. I would grab this album before the commercial band wagon swallow them up. Search the net for stockists, a MUST have album.
