Dr. Dre, 2001

Dr. Dre, 2001 is a classic in every since of the word. It was his second solo album and had the biggest stars of hip hop at the time appear on it. From "Forgot about Dre" a song breaking down how it has been for in the turbulent world of hip hop and how it effected him. With Eminem holding nothing back and singing the chorus the song was a instant success. He changes tones on the somewhat dark "Watcher" which he uses to bring to light some of the things that people we talking about him and addressing some of the issues people had with him. "Still Dre" and "Next Episode" were the high points of the album. Proving that Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg still sound best together on a track and were summer hits and were in heavy rotation for years to come in the clubs. If you did not buy this album, do it now! You will not regret and will soar to the top of your favourites. It has every thing you would want from a rap album, the grittiest streets cuts to the banging club jams so Dr. Dre The Chronic 2001 is a must have for any hip hop fan.

In my opinion, every song on the Dr. Dre, 2001 album is either great or at least listen able, and the lyrics on most tracks can back the beats. My favorite album of all time would no doubt be this masterpiece right here, better than his first album and overall just solid. I think that the Chronic 2001 is the definition of a classic rap album.

Dre is one of my inspirations and in many ways his music and lyrical genius has not only shaped the man I am today but also that of my homeys. If Dre had been born 250 years ago, we would regard him as gifted a musician as Beethoveen. So go get yourself a copy. Fool.

Any one who doesn't regard the Dr. Dre 2001 album as the greatest rap album of the 20th century is not a true gangster rap fan!

2001 is an untouchable album and put Dre back on the map the first song says everything about the rest of the album, you still have to skip some tracks on the album but the ones you don't are classics, nearly everyone I know has got this album and I think Dre is smart and one of the best. This is a mainstream album made for anyone, I recommend this album to anyone as I say untouchable go and buy it.

As always when Dre's on the boards the beats are slamming. Dre combines a little old school funk with a twist of hardcore basslines to create his signature sound. In case you can't tell Dre may not be the best on the mic, but with all star ghost writers and guest appearances on nearly every track it is definately made up for. Almost every joint off this lp holds one or more classic bars or verses. With Dre only putting an album out every 7 years you may have to wait a long time to hear from him again so I suggest you get this cd.
