Slipknot, Iowa

this was one of the last slipknot albums i bought and i looked at the reviews and basically all of them were good so i listened to the album and was a bit dissapointed at some tracks but the other tracks like heretic anthem, people = s**t, left behind, the shape, i am hated, my plague & everything ends are all amazing they blew me away others were good as well but these tracks shook me so overall this album was quite good also being their heaviest by far. to me this is a good album not my favorite but i did enjoy it and my favorites being people = s**t, heretic anthem, my plague, left behind, everything ends, the shape & i am hated so if your the kind of guy (person) who likes system of a down, rage against the machine or whatever this is your album

SlipKnoT have really progressed since there first album, songs and sounds are more intricate and all together more varied. Iowa is a must have album to add to your collection whether you're an angry teenager or a metalhead.

The Slipknot Iowa album is an interesting listen. It's definitely Slipknot's most brutal album to date. The best thing about this album is the arrangement. It goes from really chaotic to super melodic. The only bad thing is it doesn't do the bands musical ability justice, nor does it do Corey's vocal range justice. Overall it's an excellent album, but if your looking for Slipknot's more melodic material, go to Vol. 3.

This isn't really even a song. If you have the 1st album (Slipknot) it's very similar to track 1 on that album. (515) is bascily samples and random screaming for 58 seconds.

2.People=S***

This song is crazy. It starts off with very heavy guitar licks and it basicly stays that way. This song curses a lot so its not kid friendly. Then Sid comes in with some cool turntables and then it gets to the chorus where Corey, Clown and Chris are screaming their lungs out. This is one of the heaviest songs on the album and its one of my favorites.

3.Disasterpiece

This is another really heavy song with unfriendly lyrics. It starts off with Mick doing a guiatr riff a very similar riff to the one of surfacing on there first album. Then the drums and the percussion comes in the it gets in to the verse wich is still extremely heavy. Then after that the bridge will come in which is also very heavy and then pretty soon the song will end.

4.My Plague

This is the 1st song on the album where corey actually sings. The song curses but its not nearly as bad as the 1st two songs. The song starts out with some heavy guitar riffs and breaks in to a very good and catchy chorus. The bridge is just some heavy guitar riffs and more screaming and might I say the percssion in this song is actually noticeable!

5.Everything Ends

This is by far the worst song on the album. This song has a ton of cursing in it it almosts curses enough to be a rap song! The song starts out with coreys vocals and breaks into a heavy guitar riff (for a change) and thats really pretty much it. The drums are what holds this song together. But this is the filler song on this album

6.Heretic Anthem

This is more like it there's not to much cursing a very catchy rhythem and this is one of the first songs that you can here every member. The song starts out with Sid doing a count down from 8 and it breaks in to a heavy guitar riff. Then Corey comes in screaming and then when the chours comes in with Clown and Chris screamin back up and Corey still blasting away. The song ends with some samples and a couple other weird affects.

7.Gently

This is a very dark song at the beginning its not heavy and Corey is singing very well. The song starts off on an Eerie bass line and some coool percussion to. That continues for a minute then the guitar comes in not doing anything to heavy at all and that continues for like 3 minutes and 30 seconds and then this is where it gets awesome Mick comes in with a crazy heavy riff and then some screaming comes in and the song ends. (Did I mention there's no cursing in this song!).

8.Left Behind

This is to be considered the best song on the album by most. It starts off with a cool riff by Mick and then the drums and percussion comes in. Then Corey comes in and sings then gets it to screaming a little (theres no cursing in this song). Mick then comes in with another interesting riff which is to be the bridge and then pretty soon the song ends.

9.The Shape

This is a pretty decent song also. Its a really hard heavy chorus and then the verses are low creepy bass lines. The song Starts out with Mick and Joey and then Corey comes in and gets in to the verse and then the chorus again and it keeps on like that until the end of the song.

10.I Am Hated

This is the most sampled song by far. The vocals are really weird and heavy and its not a friendly song either. Its one of the more harder songs on the album and its also another personal Favorite. It starts with Heavy guitar riff and then the wierd Vocals kick in and that part is really sick! Then the chorus comes in pretty soon which is Clown screamin in the back round. Then Joey comes in and goes nuts wich is always enjoyable. Then the song hits the bridge wich has the normal scraming then the chorus comes in and thats the end.

11.Skin Ticket

Most people really don't like this song most say its a filler and really have problems with it. Me personally I think its a great song definitely the creepiest by far. The song starts off really heavy and breaks in to the extrmemley erie Chorus which is the only song that really gives me the chills when I listen to it then it breaks into a heavy verse and then the chorus again and to finish out the song they keep scraming and playing hard.

12.New Abortion

This is where the album Picks up again. This is a sick song most people love it. Its starts off with Mick doing a heavy guitar riff and then Joey comes in pundin the drums and corey then comes in. These are also the best lyrics this album has to offer. This song for the most part is kid friendly and is great. Then corey sings the chorus and breaks in to the verse then the bridge comes in with clown and chris taking turns screaming. Then after some more heavy riffs it ends.

13.Metabolic

Another song most people think is a filler. That is bull this is another awesome song with good lyrics and not to much cursing. The song starts out with Mick, Jim, Joey and Sid doing some heavy crap and then Corey comes in screaming. The chorus is crazy!!! Its with the Clown screaming "stop!" and Corey baring his soul. This is the most emotional song on the album. The bridge comes in and then the chorus and pretty soon the song closes.

14.IOWA

This is also a very creep song that lasts for 15 minutes and is hard to listen to becuase a lot of the parts are really boring and very repetitive. The bass is cool though its like a tribal song through a lot of it which is also not to shabby but the lyrics are terrible in my opinion and the song is just too long.

Slipknot, Iowa - Amazing album, definitely their strongest work. Anyone who thinks Slipknot are weak really needs to stop rolling their mouths and listen to the album. I don't critisize other people's music because I have realized that everyone has different tastes. So shut your mouths and buy this album, you'll be surprised by how good it is.

Slipknot is in NO WAY nu-metal. I don't hear rap, all I hear is grindcore guitar.

"People=S**t," "The Heretic Anthem," and "I Am Hated" are all standouts.
