Megadeth, Rust in Peace

Rust in Peace is, I think, the best album Megadeth has ever made. It's the Black Album of Megadeth, made in 1990.

The main strenght of Rust in Peace is the balance between music and vocals in a slower mainstream style than previous Megadeth albums. But still Rust in Peace is heavy and focused on spead.

The weakness in Rust in Peace I think are the vocals of Mustaine. Dave Mustaine has a rare kind of voice. The backing vocals of David Ellefson and Marty Friedman rock however.

Rust in Peace is one of the best metal albums ever made, and I think that anybody should give it a chance. It's the best work Megadeth has done so far.

Megadeth, Rust in Peace - I have just started listening to this album again after a few years out. The likes of Tool and The Smashing Pumpkins taking my attention away to more emotionally charged and, in my opinion, difficult directions. That said, however, it has been a veritable breath of fresh air to be spinning it again. The lads are getting tired of my ranting on about how it is THE greatest metal/thrash album ever written. I truly believe that it surpasses anything that Metallica ever created! It has made me realise that my air guitar technique has gone slightly out of alignment! There is really something to be said for listening to music on a purely superficial level and, in this respect, I am not far wrong in my judgment of it being the GREATEST metal album of all time. Obviously, customer reviews are always going to be highly biased - you don't tend to write a review if the album sucks the big fella do you? I am trying hard to be objective though. Here's to the new album being in the same vein - can't see that happening though!
