Visted The Butchers Arms Hepworth, for A Family Cel
Visted the Butchers Arms Hepworth, for a family celebration last Sunday - five children under 9years and and 7 adults - we all found the staff welcoming and helpful, especially with the younger children. The food fulfilled all expectations and more, everyone happy with choices, and as usual everyone sampled some of the other food chosen by family members. The salmon in mussel broth was chosen as the perfect starter! The beef was the best we had tasted and definitely main course winner. The choice of ice cream for the children went down a treat with the adults sampling most of them too. Altogether a pleasant experience, staff young and enthusiastic but well trained. Would recommend this for family outing without hassle.

Not Close Enough To Leeds For Me Otherwise I Would
Not close enough to Leeds for me otherwise I would be there everyday, it was real, hot food served served to a pack of fussy eaters and each of us loved it. I have no resevations about taking family there from abroad, will be going back, and back, and back.

We Went Last Night For My Partners 40th Birthday,
We went last night for my partners 40th Birthday, expecting a special meal. It was a truly dreadful experience. The meal started off well the hot smoked salmon was simple but well presented and tasted nice. Then came my main course, the "plate of pig" which I ordered was basically a few different cuts of pork which I often order from gastro pub type places. It was truly vile. It consisted of very rare pork along with rare sausages cold apple sauce and little or no gravy. Just a variety of rare pork. The black pudding was reasonable but I couldnt stomach the rare pork and politely asked for it cooked a little more. It came back much the same, just microwaved with even less sauce on it. I left most of the dish. When the waitress checked back I said it still wasnt cooked but she said that was how it was meant to be - at £19.95 it was shockingly overpriced. My partner had a similar experience with his rolled lamb which was fatty and gristly. The whole experience was extremely disappointing and left us £60 lighter for awful food. Go to the star at Harome, for similar prices and mindblowing food.

Extremely Expensive. Roll Mop Herrings With A Litt
Extremely expensive. Roll mop herrings with a little salad at £7.95, braised slab of beef at £16.95 which appeared to be very ordinary braising steak (one of the cheapest cuts of beef) on a heap of mashed potatoes. All other vegetables very ordinary and at extra cost.
Service was good but that cannot make up for a poor meal for the price.

I Visisted The Butcher's Arms On March 13th 2010 W
I visisted the Butcher's Arms on March 13th 2010 with 6 other friends. The setting was warm and cozy, I am vegetarian and can say without exception the food was fabulous, apparently some of the meat may have been overdone but that's not on my agenda!
The service was good and I thought it was good value for money, with every course being appropriately filling (I realise you probably shouldn't rate a meal by that but I am from Yorkshire and it's in the blood).
The only slight issue was that (to my late thirties eyes) the sommelier was 12 and we could not take him seriously. To be fair to the lad the wine was excellent and you shouldn't judge a book by its cover (or apparently age)!
Just to confirm he wasn't _really_ 12 I think he as closer to 18 or 19....

We Went To The Butchers Arms Because We Believed T
We went to the Butchers Arms because we believed the hype, the result was very, very disappointing!
If you want to be served by young people who have little or no idea about the hospitality industry, I suggest the staff in a branch of Mc Donalds are more efficient.
A main course of steak was very mediocre and lacking imagination.
The owner is apparently going for big awards, our suggestion is please get The Butchers Arms sorted before you do.
The hype in Yorkshire Life is apparently because their food and wine consultant is his PR lady! Mmmm How many more of her clients win awards!

I Made A Reservation For 5pm On Saturday 27/02/10
I made a reservation for 5pm on Saturday 27/02/10 under the name of Harvey, overall the food was of a good standard however the vegetarian option of spiced bean ragu tasted as if the tomatoes had not cooked out correctly and there was far too much pasta.
My main concern was to do with the standard of service presented, the waiting on staff were all very young and clearly not trained in this industry. The service displayed was at the standard one would expect from a well know pizza chain rather than a gastro pub.
It is due to this reason I will not be returning to the Butchers Arms as there are a number of establishments that offer a far more polished and pleasurable experience.
Sorry but The Butchers Arms really missed the mark on my visit!
