Norwich, Norwegian Blue

Norwegian Blue is a great place to go for a nice drink, really enjoy the nice sofas and comfortable relaxed but vibrant atmosphere.

Norwich, Norwegian Blue has got better over the last few months and it seems like the owners are trying to put the place back on the map.

Me and my husband used to go to the Norwegian Blue a lot whenever we went down to Riverside. We would sometimes take advantage of the 2-4-1 meal offers which was of reasonable quality or just order a quick snack between ourselves such as cheesy chips or a plate of nachos. We would even try the many cocktails and shooters on offer, but these offers seem a little expensive in the way that you can get 2 cocktails for £5.50 or 3 shooters for £4.50. The place is very quiet a lot of the time which in a way was nice for those people who like somewhere quiet to go for a drink, but it was chilly inside. A plus side to this place is that it is free from any football paraphernalia unlike a lot of other places where it is always 'in your face'. It only has music videos which show chart and indie music which are ok, plus the deco is unusual. There is a giant colour changing waterfall behind the bar and the rest of the place looks very cool, casual and modern inside. A downside to this place is the beer on draught does not taste so good. It has a slight sulphur-like flavour which could be down to the pipes not being cleaned regulary enough. We do not visit as often now because of the foul tasting draught beer and besides we wanted a change so we sometimes go the the 'Old Orleans' bar opposite. The Norwegian Blue is ok, but I wish that it was a bit warmer inside, the cocktail/shooter offers were cheaper and the draught beer wouldn't taste as bad.
