Superb Food And Service

It is not too often I am able to rate pub food so highly so thought I would put on here for others to see. If anyone knows this place it is in Rainford St.Helens and the service is superb. Me and my wife visited for my birthday meal without the kids (her treat). On arrival I was impressed as this place still looks like a pub in the traditional sence with exposed wooden beams running accross the ceilings and walls. A very polite waiter was stood to the side greeting customers and seating them. It was shocking how busy the place was for 1800 on a tuesday considering no reservation was made by us. We where granted a table and sat down after a short wait. The bar serves real ales and they are very reasonable in price from 2.20 to 3.10 and prosseco for the wife at 16/ bottle. Mixed pork platter is a must for the sharing starter and I myself had roast duck in black berry sauce which was cooked to perfection. The meals range from 9- 19 for main although there is also a budget menu available with 2 courses less than a tenner. Highly recommend for anyone who is passing to give it a go even if it is judt to have a drink in a real pub of old.
