For A Play That Won Many Accolades, I Was A Little
For a play that won many accolades, I was a little disappointed with The Color Purple. We enjoyed the musical but after reading the review and the build up, I expected something more impressive and memorable.
This play just didn't do it for us. Yes, there were some catchy tunes, some feet tapping music, some amusing numbers and characters but compared to Les Mis or Sound of Music, this one was pale in comparison. Perhaps what made this musical not memorable are the tunes themselves. You do not leave the theatre humming some of the bars as you would in any good musicals.
