Rubbish

For those of you who are grease fans this musical is

nothing compared to the film.

They should of called the film musical, not grease.

diologue and film changed completely to almost unknown

not so called funny or amusing.

Rubbish,rubbish, rubbish.

Grease Is The Word

I went to see Grease is the Word Musical at Birmingham Alexandra with my family on 31st of December 2011. The show involved many different performances of songs such as ‘The One That You Want’, ‘Born To Hand Jive’ while still telling a story of a romance. The three main art forms incorporated into the show were acting, singing and dancing. The cast was very good performing to their best, however, sometimes I couldn’t understand Danny Bayne as his American accent was quite over the top and you couldn’t always hear the line. As well as this, the cast coped well with all the swearing and sexual gestures within the show, this showed as they kept a straight face. Even though they’re adults it still would be difficult because you might have family or friends watching. The dancing was to perfection especially the hand jive which looked hard to do as there was a lot of ‘armography’ involved and it was incredibly fast. Although sometimes the style of dance used was Latin American which I thought in parts didn’t always work and fit with the era of Grease. I think the reason this dance style was used was because a lot of the cast had been trained in this as read in the program. Finally, there was the singing. The cast were good but once again some of the performers put too much accent on their singing voice making it hard to hear the words. In my view, the final song, ‘You’re the one that I want’ was the strongest performance. The harmonies were perfect and the cast worked together so well.

In conclusion, I have seen a musical We Will Rock You but it was not as energetic and fast paced as Grease. The performance was mind blowing and unlike We Will Rock You, I wanted to get up on stage and dance as felt like the show was sucking me in and I really felt part of it. I would love to see it again and I was so inspired by it I signed up for the West End summer camp.

It's Electrifying!

Wow! What an AMAZING show! I have been to many shows in my time and this was just out of this world! There was so much energy present on stage that continued throughout the whole performance! The costumes were great and the actors where phenomenal! Amazing voices to be heard! I was singing along all the way though! We paid £35 each for out tickets and felt there was great value for money! It was great for anybody of all ages and I would defiantly recommend this production to anyone!

Grease Is Such A Great Performance For Everybody

Saw Grease the musical and was very satisfied for spent time. It's very good because of the old songs like \"tell me more\" and many others. It reminds of early 70's wich was interesting to view. I recommend it to everyone who is willing to se it. It's very simple but attractive with great dancing scenes!

Having Been A 'grease' Fan Since I Was Little ! Wa

Having been a 'Grease' fan since I was little ! was so looking forward to seeing the show with my little girl. But what a disappointment! Danny was awful, too old, no voice and a creepy stage presence, thought I was watching a sad Elvis wannabe! The show had no wow factor, and I agree with the other comments made here, waiting for sexy Sandy to appear was a big disappointment everyone looked so serious in the audience and the little girls in our party just seemed bored! Don't waste your money.

Went To See Grease Last Night And Was Very Disappo

Went to see Grease last night and was very disappointed. The understudy that played Danny was very poor he tried to act as thoe he was Elvis and was far to old looking for Danny!Sandy was ok and some of the dancing was excellent but as the show was really about Danny and Sandy and having such a poor Danny it really spoilt it for me.Some of the songs didnt even sound like they were the same tune as the musicial. The Singer who sang Grease Lightening was really terrible couldnt sing at all and this really spolit that part they should have let one of the others who could sing do it.I am very dissapointed as this cost me a lot of money.DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Expected Alot More From The Show. There Were About

Expected alot more from the show. There were about 2 parts that were fantastic but the script and acting was poor. The actors playing the T Birds and Jan and Frenchie were really good! But the actress playing Sandy was a big fat disappointment...her voice wasnt much and when she came out as 'sexy Sandy' she looked like a 12 year old playing dress up. She is definitely the wrong choice for the role. Some of the accents were questionable too.

Absolutly Fantastic! For All Ages! The Oldest In O

Absolutly FANTASTIC! For all ages! The oldest in our party was 72 and the youngest 14, but there were youngs kids there too! I'm not a fan of musicals or so I thought. The time wizzed by from start to finish kept everyone enthrilled! Got very good price for our tickets on an internet site. Real feel good stuff! The only problem was people behind me kept chatting-I think one of them couldn't speek English and the others were filling them in. So did have to ask them to stop talking. Normally i'd find this really really annoying but because Grease is loud and colourful, It didn't bother me that much. Fantastic show i'd highly recommend it.

Hi All, I'm Only Asking This Due To The

Hi all,

I'm only asking this due to the fact that last night I went to see Grease the musical at the Piccadilly theatre in London, and I wasn't impressed with the show one bit! I was looking forward to seeing this show, as we are doing it at our school in February and went to see it to get ideas. I will name you a few things which I picked out:

1. We had a load of understudies and the singing was awful, not to mention some of the dancers were out of time from each other. This leads me on the next part

2. Due to the fact the acting was awful, I started looking at the technical side of things, I saw countless faults with the lighting. DMX errors showed up by showing contrasting colours on the floor for one scene. Also there were a load of shadows being cast across the actors face.

3. Sound was particularly awful. They had what looked like mic failures as I counted at least 4 times that wireless mics were brought on stage to substitute the face mics they were wearing. These transitions of bringing them on stage were awful, we noticed them being brought on, which was unprofessional and looked tacky as they walked on with the mic in hand. The mix of the handhelds and the face mics were awful, the handhelds were a lot louder than the face mics. During Grease Lightning the music from the band was really loud, and uncomfortable to listen too, there was bass booming throughout the theatre, along with that Kenickies mic - the one who sings the song - his mic was a handheld after his mic failed as he went on stage, his mix with the band was awful it was as if they were battling to be the loudest. In doing this the mics were peaking the amps and the sound started to become distorted. It was like a rock concert rather than a theatre show. There were a few older ladies in front of me and they were holding their ears throughout the whole song it was that uncomfortable to listen to.

The whole musical was bad. I had really high expectations of the show after I had seen it when it first opened. I myself am only 15, I have become a critical viewer and I pick out little things that I have seen in the show that I thought didn't look good or didn't go right, or went wrong, and these are little things I usually pick up on, but my mates, who don't do any technical theatre, were there as well also picked up on the details I saw, they had become bored and distracted by bad things. Discussing with our director of Grease for our school production, on the way back from the theatre, she said we could probably do better. The best way to describe the show was amateur. Is there anywhere we can take our complaint and have it listened to seriously as it was not what I would expect from a professional production that had such a good reputation.

It is the only west end show that I have come out of and went it was rubbish!

This is my opinion of Grease.

I found this review not helpful because...it lacks theatre knowledge

DamienPoole

This Reviewer has his/her right to comment, but must know that Grease always uses hand held mikes for certain songs. Grease Lightening, and the finale songs, including Your the one that I Want. It has nothing to do with mike failures.
