The South Will Rise Again

The weather was bad for the first few days of The South Will Rise Again festival but on Sunday the sun came out and made a terrific end. Lisa O'Kane and her Band gave a wonderful performance which had the audience spell bound, then came Tom Russell who also gave a great performance, then to finish the show the Diesel Cowboys. Everyone went home happy!

There were poor acoustics in the line dance hall, too many non-country stalls selling anything but country and western. Why go to a country and western festival to buy caravan accessories or motor bike cloths??

I went to the South Will Rise Again Country And Western Music festival in Canford Park Arena, Poole, Dorset last year (2005) for one day on the Friday. I primarily went to see Susan McCann of whom I am a great fan, but I enjoyed all of the artists, groups and bands performing and had a great day! Luckily the westher stayed dry for us and most of the afternoon we had bright sunshine! This is a great event for anyone interested in Country music. There is also Line Dancing, American vehicle exhibition and many other attractions. There are also many stalls selling everything from Country clothing to Country music. And anything in between and of course food and drink. 2005 was the first year and i will definitely go again, although much to my disappointment cant make it to this years festival which is going to be even longer, bigger and better!!

Artists for 2006 include Ireland's singing sensation Mary Duff (Daniel O'Donnell's special guest on all of his tours!!). This looks to be another huge success!!!

(PS - I have given camping facilities 10/10 below because I am in no position to make judgement as we only went for 1 day and there is no N/A option, tut,tut,tut- thats a point off for this site LOL!!)
