Fairport's Cropredy Convention

Cropredy is the daddy of folk/acoustic fests. It is easy to get to, has great facilities and very very clean loos, and generally the music is fab. The security is good without being too overwhelming and the organisers seem to care about us punters. But the best thing is the Cropredy craic. No other fest (except maybe Glasto) has such a great vibe. I've been to lots of festivals and Cropredy is among my faves.

There is a REALLY big bar selling great beer (though it aint cheap). You can meet the musicians at the bar, particularly members of Fairport - and especially Dave Pegg. One year, I was at the bar and started chatting to Robert Plant no less - you can't do that at any other festival - but I was pretty drunk so he probably thought I was a dipstick.

The only downsides are it gets very crowded on the Saturday nite, the beer is expensive, and it's in a river valley so it gets a bit boggy. Other than that it is a really great three days!
