I've Been Hyping Myself Up For This Gig Since Dece
I've been hyping myself up for this gig since December when I got my ticket, on the 19th to be exact and I must say, I wasn't let down one bit. From the second the lights went out and Dan Flint picked up his drumsticks the crowd where going wild. And they didn't stop. Not even through ballad "Fireworks." Following Flint, came Matt Barnes, Max Helyer and Chris Miller firing straight into their first song. Then came Josh "Fransexy" Franceschi. Everyone. Went. Nuts. God, does that boy know how to control a crowd. I'm quite upset with myself, that I enjoyed myself that much I can't remember the order of the setlist, but the boys raged though some amazing songs, like "Playing the Blame Game", "Safer to Hate Her" and the classic "Save it for the Bedroom" and finishing off with an amazing performance of "Underdog", and at this point I felt like crying because my favourite band were about to leave me once again, but then our amazing Fransexy decided to point out the boys would be back in December and there went my happy mood once again. I've read some reviews of other YOUMEATSIX gigs this month and some people seemed disappointed with what they got. Me on the other hand, I couldn't be happier, the people who wrote those reviews mustn't have seen the same band as I did because I have never been happier with a bands live performance than I am with YOUMEATSIX last night, even outdoing themselves the two times I have seen them in Belfast. Hopefully the boys keep their promise to come back in December because if I don't get to see them again soon I'm going to be so sad. Although YOUMEATSIX are not all that well known, unless you like this sort of music or listen to radio 1 constantly, they put on an amazing show that you could enjoy even if you aren't a fan of the band. I have one complaint and one complaint only about last night and that is that I felt it was over really quickly, although I suppose I can't blame them seeing as beautiful Frontman Josh Franceschi has Laringitus at the minute. I will be posting a link to this review on his twitter so I just want to say Josh thank you so much for getting through the whole gig, I know your voice gave up after a couple of songs but you left for 5 minutes and where straight back up there singing your heart out. It means so much that you can continue though your gigs even though you're not well and I know that I, and everyone else, really appreciates it.
So to summarise, if you want a good night, a good sing-a-long with some AMAZING songs off two AMAZING albums, head to a YOUMEATSIX gig soon, you won't be disappointed with these guys, they are probably the most fun live band I've ever seen (JOSH, MATT and MAX not being too hard on the eyes either lol) and that's even compared to my heroes Blink182.
I love YOUMEATSIX and I hope you do too =)
