Stevie Wonder Is Back On Tour And He Did An Amazin

Stevie Wonder is back on tour and he did an amazing show last night at the MEN arena in Manchester. From the reviews I have read about the Birmingham gig this is not a rehearsed (same night after night) show and rightly so. With a back catalogue spanning 5 decades Stevie has plenty to work with and work he did, but always with a wide infectious grin on his face. I am a big Stevie Wonder fan and am familiar with most of his music and he chose perfect tracks for the audience to dance to and participate in. Stevie has a brilliant way of getting the audience to join in and many of his songs appear to have been almost written to be performed live with the audience singing along. The first half of the show was like a jam session and felt very improvised and free flowing Stevie sang some new songs and lesser known songs as well as chatting to the audience, proving to be a very charming, charismatic and funny man (by doing impressions of various British accents, the Brummie one being the funniest). Whilst at the same time there was a certain reverence towards him normally reserved for heads of state like Nelson Mandela. He demonstrated his immense musical abilities. This man is without doubt, a musical genius first and foremost and music would not be where it is today without Stevie Wonders innovation. People from Michael Jackson and Prince to James Morrison and Beyonce cite Stevie as a musical influence and many of the tracks he chose last night have been sampled or reworked by todays hottest artists. The second half of the show was electric Stevie pumped out hit after hit after hit, some of my highlights were ;My Cherie AmourSigned, Sealed, Delivered, I'm Yours!I WishDo i Do,Knocks Me Off My Feet,Superstition,As,Isn't She LovelyI Just Called To Say I Love You However as I mentioned at the start of this review I think Stevie is mixing it up every night and doing different tracks so please do not read this and expect to see these songs. In conclusion I thoroughly enjoyed the gig and am pleased that I will one day be able to tell my children and grandchildren that I saw the legend Stevie Wonder live!
