Quality Service If A Bit Lacking In Wildlife!

Firstly I would like to say that Nick, his wife and the two lads that they have help them run the business (All of whose name escapes me, sorry) are among the loveliest people you will ever have the pleasure to meet. Why wouldn't you be happy with their job!

The place that the tours leaves from is about a 45 min journey from the centre of Airlie Beach. You go through some lovely bush on the way out there and Nick has plenty to say (all of it interesting I should add) about the sites on the way.

We actually went out to the resort twice as the first time we went (for an afternoon session) our trip was cancelled after lunch as it was too choppy. These things happen and they were super apologetic. Initially I was a little annoyed that we then had to stay at the resort while the people who had been out in the morning got taken back to town, however, then I lightened the hell up and realised that I was in one of the most Idyllic places in the world with a beautiful beach to myself (with my fiancee). We chilled out for an hour and a bit and Nick's wife came to pick us up so the wait wasn't quite as long.

We managed to re-book 2 days later and were picked up again for the morning session this time. Again they were really apologetic and gave a couple of stubby holders that we showed a interest in buying for free (nice touch). Suited, booted and schooled on what was expected of us, we headed out.

Partly down to the time of year, and partly due to bad luck I guess, we didn't actually see any wildlife which was a shame. Our tour was also cut a little short as the couple in front of us had a pretty spectacular crash! Their ski got flooded so they ended up being towed back by the guide. It was only cut by about 20 mins (of a 3 plus hour tour) so not a problem.

The only issue that I would point out (and again this is absolutely not a problem that the company could do anything about) is that you are governed by the slowest riders. They advise you that you must ride in single file with a 60m gap between skis. Unfortunately we had a young girl and her granny who were happy putting along. This meant that our ski and the one in front were constantly having to slow down. TBH it was partly responsible for the accident in that, in order to entertain ourselves both we and the ski in front were slowing right down and letting the distance between us and the 1st ski grow so we could pick up a little speed when catching up! As I said, not the companies fault in any way, just a little unlucky on our behalf.

I would defo recommend this tour. You won't meet nicer operators of a tour and riding jet skis is really good fun!
