I went along to Berkshire 4x4 hoping for a bit of fun. It was a gift and essentially they give you a land rover for a couple of hours to drive around a hilly course in.

There were zero facilities there, not even a loo, so that was a shame as we got there early and could have done with a cup of tea or something.

The day we went it had been raining heavily so the course was extra slippery.

The vehicle we were in was pretty old and tatty but I guess that didn't really matter, although I was concerned that one of the seatbelts was ripped and needed replacing.

The course was pretty good and our instructor was excellent. However, I did leave feeling that it had been a bit tame.

Dont get me wrong, I wasn't looking for an adrenaline rush too much, but 99% of the course you went along without even pressing the accelerator so it was incredible slow and as a result a little dull

I guess it's hard to get the balance between saftey and excitement, but it did feel like they needed a few more exciting things to happen on the course - maybe a deep water section where you accelerate into it and make a big splash? Maybe some sort of 'seesaw' where you drive to the middle of a bridge and it tips you down to the other side? I'm not entirely sure, but something a bit more interesting would have been the icing on the cake.

Still a good fun thing to do though.
