Myths In The Modern Day
Percy Jackson & The Lighting Thief was a great fantasy film, that included a few familiar names from the world of Greek mythology. The effects were really good and realistic and they made good use of Percy's surroundings.
The kid who played Percy Jackson, Logan Lerman, did a good job as a moody teenager with a difference. The story unfolded at the right speed and the appearance of his father Posiedon, God of the Sea explains why Percy is not like any other teenager.
Throwing in a lighting thief to cause some trouble, introduces Percy to kids like him and of course, he ends up the hero.
The teacher that is always giving Percy a hard time and eventually turns on him, resonates with every child who has one teacher they just can't get on with. For Percy, she was out to kill him. Coming to his rescue was his best friend Grover, who Percy soon finds out he isn't who he seems to be. Half boy, half goat.
The saddest part was when he said goodbye to his mum to keep them both safe.
All in all a great fantasy movie for all ages.
This Movie Is A Fun Watch For Kids, Based On A Boo
This movie is a fun watch for kids, based on a book for kids. It's got some really amusing lines like, "Guard it safely, it's a powerful weapon', "It's a biro", which were quite funny. Steve Coogan and Uma Thurman as ever rule the day with their portrayals of medusa and hades! The special effects are good as is the camera work! However, the plot is so formulaic that if you've seen any kid/teen movie you're going to guess who the bad guy is within 20 minutes of the movie. Here's a summary, boy escapes bad guys flees to a camp. His mother is taken/dies. Boy has to prove himself. Meets a girl who's tough and they're enemies now and become best friends almost immediately. Gets help from a new ally who's the bad guy. Fumble their way across America and come face to face with old ally now bad guy. There's some terrible plot parts like how the lightening gets rediscovered and Percy's intuition to discover huge powers. Not terrible and thankfully not cheesy Harry Potter but out of the same mould. I'd say for formulaic plots with a little difference STARDUST is a better movie choice.
It's A Really Cool Movie! I Have To Say It Is Even
It's a really cool movie! I have to say it is even better than the book! Like, in the book Percy gets the pearls as a present, but in the movie, they have to go on a quest to LOOK for the pearls. I also like it because it teaches you about the Greek Gods and is THAT is really cool. Annabeth has brown hair in the movie but in the books she has blonde hair. Grover is meant to be white but instead, in the move they made him black (which is cool). They are all older than they are supposed to be but it just looks better. They look like they're 16 but they are meant to be 12. Chiron looks kinda freaky but it's OK... But it's STILL not the same as Harry Potter!! I hope you all found my review on Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief useful!
