This Is A Wonderful Film Made From A Wonderful Boo

This is a wonderful film made from a wonderful book! Gregory Peck stars as Atticus Finch, a bookish, chivalrous lawyer in the Deep South during the Depression struggling to do the right thing and to raise his two children on his own. Told from the perspective of his tomboyish daughter Scout who is fascinated with her reclusive neighbour "Boo" Radley, she recounts the summer where Atticus took on the defense of the Black defendant in the case of the alleged rape of a local white girl from a poor, abusive, racist family. The family are forced to defend their values against racism and anger and segregation in the South.

It is a wonderful coming of age tale about Scout and her brother Jem and their friend Dill, of their fascination with their neighbour and of their childhood as well as being a morality tale about racism in the deep South and about ethics and standing up for what you believe in. While it may be heavy going for a real youngster, this is a classic tale which will leave you feeling warm all over.
