The Grey (2012)

Liam Neeson is a tired hunter employed by an oil company in Alaska to keep the hungry wolves away from the workers but when his plane crashes leaving him and his co workers in the frozen wilderness they find themselves up against not only the elements but also a pack of wolves determined to have them meet the same grisly end as their friends in the plane.

It's a slow start to the film but once it gets going it falls into a familiar horror film pattern, one by one the men are picked off as they fight to survive.

The film is stark and at times brutal as the wolves hunt down their prey. There are also flashbacks to Neeson's life before he went to Alaska to help us understand how he came to be the person he now is.

It was an OK film. We watched a rental and I'm glad we didn't see it in the cinema. Some bits are far fetched and a tad ridiculous but Liam Neeson is good as always. We didn't even realise that Dermot Mulroney was in it till near the end as he was so wrapped up.
