A Retired 'not So Bright' Boxing Champion Owns A R

A retired 'not so bright' boxing champion owns a restaurant tended by a waiting staff of jerks, rejects and oddballs. 'Slammin has a gambling debt of 20,000 dollars and doesn't have the money to pay it off. The odd-ball waiting staff team have to sell 20K worth of food or the restaurant gets taken over by the Jakuza! The highest seller gets 10k in cash and the lowest seller some broken ribs!

The 'Slammin' Salmon is played by one of the few actors in the movie who can deliver consistently funny lines: Michael Clarke Duncan. There's a few chuckle moments in the movie, but it's nothing not done elsewhere and funnier.

Sadly the acting is cod, the plot line fishy and my mouth clammed shut throughout. Clarke Duncan's lines come out as a mix between Samuel L and John T in Pulp fiction with lots of 'mo-fo-ing' which is of course a cheap laugh.

There's cameos by Morgan FairChild and Erik Stolhanske but no-one who can really save this movie's terribly poor scripting, line delivery or originality. To make matters worse there's character like lifting from comedy TV series, notably the IT Crowd with Jay Chandrasekhar playing NUTS.

It's a pity as the movie could have gone up against better 'over acted bizarre scenario' comedy movies like '4 Rooms'. It's a very, very light comedy, so light I think the sprinkling of jokes were lost in a side sachet of clam yoder.

I averaged around 1 gaffaw every 1/2 hour, so it's around 3 for its duration! As old as 'The Amazing Bill & Ted' is this movie fails to come close. Avoid and rent out 'The 4 Rooms' instead.
