Armando Iannucci's In The Loop Is A Very Clever Po

Armando Iannucci's In the Loop is a very clever political satire starring Peter Capaldi as Malcolm Tucker. Tucker is a bitter and pathologically cunning spin doctor, well known to BBC 2 viewers from the original series In the Thick of It, who becomes embroiled in a plot that sees both the American and British governments trying to start a war in the Middle East. A cast of regulars from the series including Chris Addison and Paul Higgins create a situation that is both hilarious and scary (if this is really how government works...) as they battle to either prevent war or push it along headfirst.

I had only ever caught parts of In The Thick of It before and had no expectations of the film but as a huge Armando Iannucci fan I thought what the hell and I have never laughed so loudly in a cinema before (or since). Loved "difficult- difficult-lemon-difficult", the garden wall situation and the way the whole thing spiralled out of control from one tiny and seemingly innocuous remark that had not been planned. Peter Capaldi is brilliant as Tucker literally venting spleen in every scene. Bring on more films from Iannucci.
