King Arthur

King Arthur - If you like seeing bloody, graphic battles with people getting their heads lobbed off then King Arthur is the film for you. I watched the director's cut on DVD which is apparently a lot better than the cinema version which was cut to gain a lower age certificate. To be honest I dont see the point in that as the battles are the best parts of the film by a long way. Clive Owen isn't great and his character King Arthur isn't a completely likable fellow. Ray Winston, on the other hand, is fantastic as always. Also, watch out for the leader of the Saxons who appears to originate from Texas, not a regulaur Viking stronghold. At the beginning it is sometimes difficult to follow as you try to work out who is fighting who, and who are supposed to be the good guys. I think the film was trying to say that King Arthur and his men weren't the worl's most lovely people, only killing as an act of defence, which is good and far more realistic, but a touch confusing. Also I was a little miffed at the end when they went to Stonehenge, miles from where they originally were and it was right on the coast. I know this is set hundreds of years ago, but I don't think the land has changed quite that much.

So, in summary, I've slated the acting, wasn't overwhelmed by the plot, thought there were a few too many cheesy bits, but I still really enjoyed it. Reason being the fight scenes were fantastic, up there with the start of Gladitor and Braveheart. If you enjoyed those then you'll enjoy this.

Well I'll start by saying that King Arthur is good, so go see it. The film has most of what you'd expect with a love interest and, well, LOTS of action including some great fight scenes.
