Saffron Lounge, Wakefield

The two of us ate at the Saffron Lounge on December 14, and enjoyed a very pleasant meal. The restaurant is comfortable and well kept, the service was very good and the food was fresh and tasty and served hot. The staff were friendly and attentive but not overbearing, and there was nothing to mar an enjoyable experience. There are plenty of tempting choices on the menu and I expect we shall return from time to time.

Saffron Lounge ia a pleasant Indian restaurant on the main drag through Horbury. The standard of food is actually pretty good, though the range is perhaps a little limited.

They have a small dining area downstairs which is quite intimate, though it can be a little cold in winter. It's done out in quite a modern style, but is quite comfortable with some sofas as well as normal tables, though I'm not sure I'd like to sit on one of these whilst I ate my curry. Service is good, efficient and friendly. The wine list is something of a work of fiction, however, as they tend not to have any of the listed bottles in stock. Not that they have a shortage of wine, just that the varieties available correspond more with what's available in the Co-Op a few doors up than what's mentioned on the wine list. Actually, when there used to be an offie across the road (which shut a year ago), you could usually tell which wine was available in the restaurant by looking in the window of the offie to see what was on offer at that particular time!

That minor niggle aside, it's definitely worth a visit as it's reasonably priced and the food is good and is a nice deviation from a takeaway. Recommended
