The Settle, Frome

Found this gem, late afternoon on a day trip with friends. Complete table service and good basic home cooked food to professional standards. Despite the busy time, our meals were served nicely within 10 minutes after ordering. Excellent value. Very clean, even the ceiling looked to have been dusted! Toilets very clean with attractive decor. Waitress very obliging with our menu substitutes. Its unusual to order meals at a table and pay at the end. I can well understand that if customers eat outside, advance payment is required. We know where to get a decent meal any time of day and afternoon drinks when we return to Frome.

have just returned from a night at 'the settle'. at first we were unsure about going as there was no website and from the outside it looked like a closed down cafe. however, we went inside and asked to look at the restaurant. upstairs there is a very stylish and spacious dining area. the waitress was very friendly but not intrusive. the food was superb.. absolutely delicious. afterwards we spent time in the lounge area, which was a great opportunity to speak to other diners and have the most delicious liquor coffee! the prices were amazing considering the superb service and extras we recieved. we paid for a two course meal but had tasty entrees, a complimentory pea and bacon soup. a palette cleansing sorbet between courses and brownies with our liquor coffee. i'm reluctent to recommend this restaurant as i want it to be my own secret find.. but it is truly amazing! for any fromers it should be a definate local! thanks so much for a great night.. emma and abi xx

Frankly I think that The Settle, Frome is incredible value along with unbeliveable food. It has it all - service, wonderful imaginative food and fair prices. Difficult to fault.

The Settle is a lovely place to go to get away from the hustle and bustle and forget about the credit crunch and that sort of thing. Its lovely sitting in there eating cake and drinking tea, its very welcoming and a happy environment, also its lovely seeing all of the little old ladies in there drinking tea an gossiping.

This was all noted on our last visit to The Settle on Saturday 12/1/'08 just after midday -

1. No salt on the table.

2. No serviettes.

3. No menus.(waited 5 mins. & fetched some from nearby table)

4. No butter for roll with soup.

5. No spoon for soup.

6. No dessert offered
