Pear Tree Inn, Whitley

My wife and I stayed at The Pear Tree hotel on Sunday and I wanted to feedback what a brilliant experience we had.

From the moment we signed in and received our key we were provided with friendly and professional service. The evening waiting team were excellent and the atmosphere of the bar area and restaurant was lovely. We enjoyed our food and we both thought your prices were amazing!

The wine selection was fantastic, we were on a budget for the weekend but even the white budget wines you had were crisp and full of flavour. It was a pleasure to spend a couple of hours on the Sunday afternoon just chatting by your bar and enjoying your wine.

Our room – Number 2 – was excellent, beautifully cleaned and presented for us. Maybe a little hot at night but that was minor.

Anyway we just wanted to let you know that we will definitely be coming back and recommending you. Thank you again, it is always so special to find a hotel of such a high standard that you want to go back to!

Service was only let down by not checking we were happy with everything. My husband would have liked another drink after they cleared his empty glass, but no-one offered and they disappeared too fast to ask. Also would have been nice to have had horseradish sauce offered with the roast beef. However the service was still good, the choice of menu was excellent and quality of food matched this.

Our first visit upon recomendation. Top quality food, attentive, proffessional staff, lovely atmosphere & surroundings. A must!

Pear Tree Inn is a good location but poor service and decidedly average food. disappointing.

The Pear Tree Inn pub and location are beautiful and has a very homely feel. The food is good quality and the menu has lots of locally sourced ingredients. The service is a little slow - lunch on a Saturday took 2 hours for 3 courses. Staff could be more friendly and need more training on how to serve food and keep glasses filled. There are no options on the menu for side dishes, i.e. vegetables, potatoes. Generally a lovely pub but, just needs a little more strength in management to make it perfect to justify the cost of a meal there.

I love this place; I've been here several times and on every occasion I've been met with friendliness and courtesy. Doesn't matter if you just want a half of bitter or the full works, lunch or dinner - the service and the food are excellent. Decor is interesting, the gardens are lovely and it's a great place to relax and have a really great meal.

I would recommend this place for any couple
