We Chose From A 3 Course Sunday Lunch Menu, Roast

We chose from a 3 course Sunday lunch menu, Roast Pork for both of us.

It was very disappointing for the following reasons - when we received our meal, the roast pork was in two wafer thin slices.

The pork had two pieces of cling film on it which suggested to us that it was not a joint a pork that had just been cooked that morning but rather a piece of pork which had been sliced cold (because it was so thin) and then reheated in a microwave. It did not have the flavour of meat freshly roasted, it was bland. No crackling was served with this meal.

We picked at the meal but did not finish it completely. We decided to make a complaint because we felt this main meal was so disappointing.

When we asked to speak to the chef we were told first of all that he was too busy to come and speak to us but on the second time of asking and pointing out the cling film on the meat, he did reluctantly come to speak to us at our table.

His manner was immediately hostile, dismissive, and aggressive and insisted that the pork was cut from a joint.

Both the chef and his assistant were both so hostile to us (in fact his assistant said to us "well for £12.50 what did we expect?") we decided to leave and, at the bar, we said that we would pay for our starter, and bottle of wine but we would not pay for the main course because we were so disappointed with the meal.

We were told by the chef that if we did not pay for the main meal they would call the police. He further advised us to make a claim through the small claims courts. We were left with no option but to pay the full amount.

We were advised by the barman that the people we spoke to were the manager Mr Aston and his wife.

We were surprised to hear that they were in a managerial position because of their lack of customer facing skills in that they were so extremely rude and hostile.

Needless to say, what should have been a perfectly enjoyable occasion turned out to be very upsetting and disappointing.
