Min Jiang, Royal Garden Hotel

This is the second time i have been to Min Jiang - the last time was in the evening and i highly recommend visiting in the day time to take advantage of the gorgeous views over the park. The food is high quality Chinese food, the duck is their speciality and it is worth pre-ordering. It's not a cheap restaurant but great for a special occasion. The only think that let it down this time was the lack of attention from the staff. We booked a table of 12 at 2pm to celebrate my husbands birthday with a nice leisurely lunch. Once our main course was over the staff all but disappeared and when we tracked on down to ask for a scoop of ice-cream for the 2 year old we had with us we were told that the kitchen was closed. They also forgot to bring out the birthday cake we had brought with us until reminded. This was a real shame because it's a great restaurant - and what's more is that they could have made quite a bit more money out of us had they been around to offer us coffee or dessert rather than just leaving us to it. At 4.15 we were also asked to vacate our table to make room for the dinner guests arriving at 6pm! I think this was just an unfortunate occurrence and i hope not a regular issue. It's a lovely restaurant with great food, spectacular vies and a lovely atmosphere - hopefully this won't become tarnished.
