What Can I Say About Fat Boys In Richmond???
What can I say about Fat Boys in Richmond???I broke my cardinal rule when I went to Fat Boys. I didn't read a review of fat boys first.I set out to go the La Cena which was an Italian Restaurant opposite. When I arrived they were fully booked. Feeling rather hungry I saw Fat Boys across the road and thought what the hell. The name was a little off putting but I thought hey you can't judge a restaurant by it's name.On arrival the staff were very attentive. A good sign. After settling down I scanned the restaurant. There were a few worrying signs. The dodgy DFS sofa and the lack of people. My mate and I couldn't really decide on what to eat from the very extensive menu so I opted for the meal for two.The starter arrived. I took one look at it and the glanced up at my friend. We both thought the same thing....it seemed like a party platter from Iceland. It didn't taste much better. The fish cakes appeared to be on the rubbery side and the pancake roles were more stodge than filling. The main was again disappointing. The pad thai wasn't particularly inspired. To give them the benefit of the doubt I wasn't sure that it was the tamarind flavour i didn't like. The green curry was ok even though they seemed a little tight on the chicken.I had the green pancakes stuffed with coconut for dessert. These weren't didn't seem fresh and more than a little chewy. The glace cherry garnish was a little kitch! To summarise...I should have gone to Iceland (next time I'll buy a deep frozen thai meal from Iceland). It's a shame because the staff were very attentive and friendly.
