Please Disregard The Previous Review From August 2

Please disregard the previous review from August 2009 as the restaurant is under new management and a new chef since January 2010. I have a feeling that the previous "hit/miss" reputation may well still be affecting the place but please give this place a chance as its unfair to judge based on the previous management.!

When we arrived at the restaurant it was quiet so we had our choice of seating. We had 2 menus to pick from, A la carte with starters ranging from £2.50-£5, mains £12-£19 and deserts about £4. The table d'hote menu was priced about £18 for 3 courses. We selected a nice red wine at about £16. For starters my girlfriend had mushroom stuffed with black pudding and topped with cheese and some peppers on the side and I chose the duck spring roll and it was amazing!

For main I had grey sole with new potatoes and herb butter and this was very tasty indeed My girlfriend had a slow cooked steak dish (cant recall exactly!) and she said this was excellent.

For deserts we had toffee and pecan tart with icecream and the strawberry and chocolate pavlova.

To finish we had Irish coffees and these were superb!

The cost of the main courses on the a la carte menu may put a few people off but these do include side orders and the quality and presentation of the food make up for the cost.

Food portions are large and all in all we totally loved our food at Fifty and will definitely go back again. The Table D'hote offers excellent value for money indeed and I noticed they had a 3 course mother's day menu for about £13.95p.

Never Before Have I Eaten Somewhere That Has Had T

Never before have I eaten somewhere that has had the nerve to serve such poor quality food We left just after getting our main course and they tried to charge us the full amount for 3 courses. Perhaps the advertised 3 courses for £10 should have been a warning but the decor was deceptively pleasant and there were plenty of people inside.
