Penlan Eating House, Cornwal

Penlan Eating House is something truly unique. From the angry red window signs forbidding you to violate the outside parking spaces with your presence, to the chill reception on entering, it's clear that customers can be something of a nuisance. The tatty brown laminate walls and dark red table tops and chairs give the interior a faintly nostalgic feel- remember Bates Motel? Creepy decor and atmosphere aside, the coffee was good- if you don't need milk which is only of the UHT variety and other diner's food looked fresh (the smell of old chip fat having put us off ordering). Our favourite touch was the little bin for recycling teabags on each table- classy. Which begs the question- who would actually choose to eat their Christmas dinner here and write a 5 star reiew of it? The owners perhaps...

We decided to try Penlan eating house for Christmas Day lunch, I had seen their dvertisemnet quite regularly in the local monthly paper. When I saw that they were opening for Christmas Day lunch, I had a look at their website,like the menu that was on offer, my husband & son also liked the sound of the menu, so we booked. It was in our opinion an excellent choice. The price for Christmas Day was not overly expensive & that included a present on the table! You don't get that at the BIG hotels. I would certainly eat again there & recommend to friends. Well Done Penlan.

I thought this place was great, I decided to come here on my travels for a quick cup of coffee, which soon changed once I smelt the fried breakfasts, I thought I would try the mega breakfast and was not disappointed, it went down a treat, I will be going there again, I might even try the roasts they do on Sundays, recommended to all.
