Darley's, Derby

The food at Darleys is fantastic, stunning in presentation and tastes wonderful. The varied menu presents research into cultural foods and explores different recipes. The main course is ever so filling and was complimented by a bottle of the recommended house wine. As I travel a lot around the country, I have experienced other restaurants and their menus, wines and presentation, these all have nothing on Darleys restaurant. The service was fabulous with a keen eye when people are finished and continue to better themselves as a waitress/waitor interested only in the customer. In one word, Darleys is Fabulous.

Whilst the food at Darley's is quite good, although a full price for what you get, we were apalled at the way we were treated after rejecting a very poor bottle of wine which was on their recommended list. The wine was vinegary and completely flavourless. The manageress was breathtakingly hostile and rudely dismissive after we suggested that the wine was not acceptable. The attitude of the restaurant was utterly intransigent and arrogant, insisting that we paid for what we felt was bad wine, without even tasting it themselves. Having written to them a number of times to complain, they have not bothered to reply. We will not be going back.
