Disappointing In Every Way

Service was slow, food was lukewarm, fries tasted like they were cooked in over-used oil, the creamy mushroom sauce on my burger was cold and tasted like condensed cream of mushroom soup and the replacement burger was a charred puck of meat in a totally naked roll. Our kids even complained about the thin vinegary ketchup. We had no apologies, nothing. And to make matters worse the following day we had the symptoms of food poisoning which may or may not have been a coincidence. We have had better burgers from roadside burger vans and felt it was a total flop. The restaurant is very small and cramped, it is dark and anyone with mobility or visual impairment would find it a difficult place to access.

Used To Go Regularly In The 70s Last Went In 2007

Used to go regularly in the 70s last went in 2007 and was impressed by it once again. Went on 12th July 2010 and found the burgers had changed. The half pounders were made in a patty former instead of looking hand made. they were drier and much less juicy than they always were. Sad Dill pickles were soggy instead of crunchy.

The steaks however were right up there as ever. perfectly broiled, great taste and the meal was sizzling as it reached the table.Chips also sizzling as they arrived. The service was a little slow with one waitress only working but she did well. The table was sticky and I thought a good clean would help the place. The upstairs bar has long ago closed, sadly. Still worth a visit - I would go back. The cost was reasonable. The usual big three burger purveyors may continue to peddle their artery-clogging ordure at much lower prices and you can keep 'em. It has slipped a bit but is still an institution and must NOT sit on its laurels!!!.

The Food Is Very Nice And Filling. You Are Always

The food is very nice and filling. You are always made welcome.Service is usually quick and even when its busy, they allow you to wait in the bar.Staff are friendly. I always look forward to visiting captain A's when im shopping in Norwich for a spot of lunch.I've never been disappointed with the service or the staff. The decoration maybe a little dated but I feel this gives the place its character.

I Found The Food To Be Tasteless. Burgers Were Sl

I found the food to be tasteless. Burgers were sloppy. Chips were cold. I'd been told this was a great place (years ago) and I think we turned up years too late.

It Must Have Been 15 Years Since I Last Went To Ca

It must have been 15 years since I last went to Captain America's - the decor has not changed at all and I like this. It has character and a style of it's own. The service was good. The burger was delicious - I had a deluxe quarter pounder with mountains of chips. The booking we made was for four - however it was only noted down as two, so it was lucky there was a spare booth - mistakes happen so never mind. This restaurant would not be good for groups of over four, as the booths seat a maximum of 4 people. Would definitely recommend. All our group had burgers and enjoyed these. I couldn't manage a dessert, but I had a quick taste of everyone else's, and they were yummie too!

The Place Has Been There For Around 30 Years. That

The place has been there for around 30 years. Thats saying something. Although the service ain't amazing or the place new and sparkley, the burgers are crazy. Nice variety considering its all about the burger and cooked to how ya want it. The milk shakes kick ass!

I Went There As A Kid, When The Only Other Burger

I went there as a kid, when the only other burger bar was the Wimpy. I am pleased to report it was fantastic, and in all honestly Captain America's Hamburger Heaven in Norwich offer the best burger I have had in 20 years. Puts the likes of Fatso's to shame.

My Parents Told Me In The 70s Captain America's Ha

My parents told me in the 70s Captain America's Hamburger Heaven was the place to be and be seen, with queues out the door to get in etc. I think the only thing that has stayed the same about this restaurant is the staff and surroundings. Not only does it look like it's not been cleaned for decades, the waitresses looked like they'd been there for decades too, old and unvibrant beings. There was one youngish waitress but she had a face on her like she was sucking on a lemon and her peroxide hair seemed to get everywhere! The food wasn't too special which was disappointing as parents remembered it being so much better. Think this place has either had it's day or needs a serious overhall, good clean, new staff and new suppliers of burgers, absolutely disgusting!
