Food quality was good, but undone by very poor service and not the nicest surroundings. Worse still, very expensive at some 30% more than comparable meals locally.

We will not be going back; which is a shame, as there is a novel variation.

In short, amateurish and overpriced. Disappointed.

very nice food... amazing staff... new manangement is amazing.... will go everytime i feel like having Indian Food... i am an Indian.. it seems like i am in india... the taste.. the ambience... everythin is exactly same like india... loved it... recommend to all :)

Although the food is good the service is really terrible. I mean dreadful - imcompetent - clueless! Last week my wife ordered a meal over the phone, when she arrived to pick it up there was no food. The order has not been sent through the kitchen, my wife complained and the the owner/chef, a diminutive Indian lady came out to basically tell my wife not to come back! Roll on a week and I order, and I go in. I paid the bill but then realised it seemed higher than I expected, I asked for a receipt, surprise surprise I had ben overcharged by £2 for a meal (no big deal these things happen), I asked for a refund, the waiter challenged me and said the prices had gone up, I picked up the takeaway nenu on the counter and it had the lower price. He went to get the owner. She started shouting at the waiter saying that it was not the chicken but the prawn that had gone up - I got the impression the waiter had ordered the wrong thing. I got my £2 back. The owner disappeared in to the kitchen and came back with my food. When I got home the meal that I had disputed was not in the bag! I called up - they insisted they had given it to me, I threatened to call the police. I asked for the owner - she was not available but eventually turned up. No apologies - the meal was delivered to my house 45mins later. Oh and guess what - she told me not to come back either. Duh! All three of had bd stomachs the next morning just to rub salt in the wounds. Never ever again.

Mirchi Rasoi is authentic indian restuarant cannot be compared with bangladesi restuarant i have been to mirchi rasoi restuarant many ocassions and the food is excellent quality and the service is very pleasant . on the ocassions i went the restuarant was very busy compare to others accross the road which are empty. i was not disappointed at any point with the food or the price.

Decided on our meal from the menu on the website. I prefer to go to the restaurant to order for a takeaway rather than call, so checked the menu when I got there for the names.

Service in the restaurant was dour, but acceptable

Got home and vegetable curry was missing from Biryani dish. My partner called to explain, but was told that the menu on the website was wrong, and actually it didn't come with veg. curry. £8.70 for a dry rice dish? I'm not stingy, but that's taking the mick a bit.

Drove back down to the restaurant, only to continue the argument there. Eventually resolved it, but could have been dealt with much more quickly.

In short, poor service, high prices, and rude staff. With so many good curry houses in Colchester, I can't see why you'd go here.

Try Maharanhi on the High Street. Worlds apart.

Did not enjoy the meal from Mirchi Rasoi that was delivered two hours after original given time.

Experienced a seemingly unfriendly and unhelpful attitude when ringing to find out when our meal might eventually be delivered ......it is less than a mile away.....

Would never eat or order from this restaurant again

If you like to taste indian food try the sizzlers especially the

ostrich tandoori and jalpari seabass

For Vegetarians lots of choice.

Do not forget to ask for NanBread, and the chutneys.

I like Mirchi Rasoi, Colchester and its food but watch out for the hot food - took someone there and they oredered a Biriyani supposed to be medium, it was very hot and for my guest inedible, not that it was bad but it was far too hot for them
